Its construction, which allows the 'you' to be exceptional, while the ‘I’ is always the 'bottom', gives the song a masterly contrast. The songwriter maintains freshness, unusually for Cole, by avoiding all sexual innuendoes and concentrating on the current and the greatest; but even here his choice is supremely iconoclastic - juxtaposing accepted superlatives like a 'summer night in Spain, the National Gallery, Garbo's salary' withj everyday products like 'cellophane'...”
